Track teams do well at invite

Boys come in third, girls place fourth

The East Troy High School boys and girls track teams continue to make plenty of noise this spring.

Both recorded solid top-five efforts at Friday’s nine-team McFarland Invitational, as the boys were third and the girls fourth.

Baraboo won the boys’ team title with 148.5 points, followed by Stoughton with 128.5 and the Trojans with 93.

Rounding out the team scores were McFarland with 75, Madison Edgewood with 62, Kenosha Indian Trails with 58, Fort Atkinson with 49, DeForest with 45 and Madison East with 39.

Highlighting the afternoon were three first-place finishes, including two by East Troy’s Miles Kilpin.

Kilpin won the discus with a toss of 164-10 and the shot put at 52-9.

The Trojans’ other individual title came from Charlie Kutschenreuter in the 400, with a winning time of 51.06. Kutschenreuter also was eighth in the long jump (18-3 1/4).

Also placing in the top five were Nathan Nguyen, second in the 400 (52.07); the 3,200-meter relay team (8:30.66); Jacob Wendt, second in the discus (163-2) and second in the shot put (51-4); Kutschenreuter, third in the 800 (2:07.23); the 1,600-meter relay team, fourth (3:37.96); Jake Pieper, third in the discus (97-2) and third in the shot put (37-9); Evan Harding, fifth in the 800 (2:08.37); and Anthony Leahy, fifth in the high jump (5-10).

Others who scored points for the Trojans were Billy Dominski, sixth in the 110-hurdles (17.57) and eighth in the 300-hurdles (45.71); Truman Kent, seventh in the 300-hurdles (45.43) and eighth in the 110-hurdles (17.67); Zach Zewiske, seventh in the long jump (18-3 1/4); the 800-relay team, seventh (1:41.89); Allen Olsen, eighth in the triple jump (37-11); the 400-relay team, eighth (50.59); Jake Remsza, ninth in the 300-hurdles (45.84); Brody Kazik, 10th in the 1,600 (4:56.08) and 12th in the 3,200 (10:54.59); Nguyen, 10th in the triple jump (36-0); Jakob Rose, 18th in the 400 (1:00.17); Nolan Dallas, 21st in the 1,600 (5:17.55); and Kelcye Demara, 22nd in the 1,600 (5:22.61).

Pair lead East Troy girls

Hope Schneider and Katrina Santos won the high jump and triple jump, respectively, to lead the girls to their fourth-place finish.

Schneider recorded a jump of 5-2, while Santos had a winning triple jump of 33-5.

Santos also was second in the high jump (5-0) and fourth in the long jump (16-0 1/4).

Also placing in the top five were the 3,200-relay team, second (10:08.26); the 800-meter relay team, second (1:52.27); M.E. Dodge, third in the discus (114-0); Katie Hodges, third in the 400 (1:03.16); Erin Parr, third in the 800 (2:28.79); the 1,600-relay team, third (4:16.58); Sydney Scadden, fifth in the 100-hurdles (17.98); Charlotte Plehn, fifth in the 400 (1:04.99); and Heather Vivian, fifth in the high jump (4-10).

Rounding out the individual results for the Trojans were the 400-relay team, sixth (54.20); Amanda Bustillos, seventh in the 1,600 (6:17.30) and ninth in the 3,200 (13:37.95); Ashley Day, seventh in the 300-hurdles (56.66); Vivian, seventh in the 800 (2:35.95); Kelly Flynn, 10th in the 1,600 (6:22); Katie Zewiske, 10th in the 400 (1:08.63) and 10th in the triple jump (30-6); Eva Solbjerg, 11th in the discus (77-7) and 11th in the shot put (28-5); Schneider, 11th in the long jump (14-3 1/4); Callie Vogel, 11th in the triple jump (30-3) and 16th in the long jump (13-6 1/4); and Amanda Mangless, 18th in the shot put (29-4).

McFarland won the team title with 125 points, followed by Stoughton with 113, Baraboo with 104, East Troy with 98 and Edgewood with 69.5. Indian Trails was sixth with 65.5 points, followed by DeForest with 65, Fort Atkinson with 42 and Madison East with 15.

East Troy traveled to Whitewater Tuesday night for a Rock Valley Conference dual meet. The Trojans host their own invitational Friday at 4:30 p.m., and then travel to the Parkview Invitational Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
