Price, Sesing win No. 3 doubles at sectional

Samantha Price and Erika Sesing emerged victorious and realized the undoubted highlight of their season in their flight at the WIAA Division 1 Lake Geneva Badger girls tennis sectional tournament Oct. 3 at Lake Geneva.

Price and Sesing, at No. 3 doubles, won the sectional title. They did not advance to the WIAA Division 1 State Individual Tennis Tournament at Madison’s Nielsen Tennis Stadium, though. The winner in the flights at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles advance.

Coach Donna Neshek praised the two sophomores for their accomplishment.

“The coaches and their teammates are very proud of their great finish,” Neshek said of Price and Sesing.

Price and Sesing defeated Janesville Craig’s Sierra Reese and Sara Runde 6-4, 7-5 in the sectional championship. They defeated Fort Atkinson’s Michaela Powers and Mariah Gorman 6-1, 6-1 to reach the championship.

Price and Sesing advanced to the sectional meet after winning their flight at the WIAA Division 1 Burlington subsectional meet Oct. 1 at Burlington.

The two are the only Elkhorn players who advanced from the Burlington subsectional to the Badger sectional.
