The East Troy Community School’s facility needs referendum was approved by the voters Tuesday, paving the way for the district to begin construction on a new Pre-K through second-grade school and major improvements to the High School.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to the School Board and administration for all their hard work in putting forth the referendum questions and deep gratitude to the voters for their support of this building solution,” School Board President wrote in a statement Tuesday night. “I would also like to thank Gina Dingman for her unwavering support in chairing the Yes Squared committee in helping this get approved.

“Be assured that we will continue the hard work of supporting the educational priorities of the district, especially our district goals, and we will make the most of every dollar invested by the residents in their schools. Stay tuned for many more good things to come in our schools and in our community. Thank you again for your support.”

The two-question referendum, asking for a total of $24.7 million, went to the voters five months after the last failed referendum with the most significant change being the $14 million new elementary school in place of an $11 million addition to Doubek Elementary.
