Bargains on books

The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library, 431 W. Center St. in Whitewater will hold a book sale March 27 through April 4, featuring a large assortment of paperbacks, for 50 cents each; hard cover fiction and non-fiction books, CDs, DVDs and plastic magazine holders in mint condition, all for $1 each.

In addition there will be a collection of large format art and other books that will be individually priced.

The book sale will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday.

 

Get in on the fun

Registration for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is open and invites children up to five years old and their caregivers to share books on a daily basis.

The spring early literacy classes at the library are still open for registration and will continue until May 14. Classes include:

  • Rhyme Time, Tuesdays at 10 a.m. featuring two short stories, songs, rhymes and finger-plays followed by playtime;
  • Little Listeners, Wednesdays at 10 a.m. featuring two picture books, a letter of the week, singing and dancing and a craft or playtime;
  • Growing Readers, Thursdays at 10 a.m. includes three picture books, a letter of the week, a calendar activity, singing and dancing and a craft, activity or playtime.

There will be no Early Literacy classes the week of March 30 due to the book sale at the library.
