Man severely injured in three-vehicle crash

A 23-year-old Elkhorn man suffered severe injuries Tuesday morning when the car he was driving collided with a semitrailer truck and a Jeep in the Town of Walworth.

Maxwell P. Osman was taken from the crash scene by Flight For Life helicopter and remained hospitalized Tuesday afternoon, according to a press release issued by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office. His injuries include broken bones and internal trauma, the release said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash on Highway 14 at the intersection of Six Corners and Brick Church roads about 8:08 a.m.

A 2000 Peterbilt truck pulling a loaded flatbed trailer was westbound on Highway 14 when it was struck by a 2007 Ford Focus driven by Osman. The release said Osman failed to yield from the stop sign at Six Corners Road.

The collision forced Osman’s car into the eastbound lane where it collided with a 2000 Jeep.

The driver of the Peterbilt truck, Wesley J. Brekhus, 30, of Havre, Mont., suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to the release. He was taken to a hospital and later released.

The driver of the Jeep, Garrett M. Adochio, 20, of Delavan also suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital.

Highway 14 was shut down for almost four hours and traffic was detoured while members of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit worked the scene, according to the release.

Other agencies that assisted with this crash include Walworth County Department of Public Works, Fontana police, Sharon police, Walworth police, Wisconsin State Patrol, Town of Delavan police, Sharon fire and rescue, Walworth fire and rescue, and Darien fire and rescue.
