Barn destroyed by fire

Departments from throughout the area battle a 7-alarm barn fire along with heavy smoke, cold temperatures and high winds Feb. 22 at 10501 Highway 59 between Berg Road and Highway KK in Whitewater. Local fire officials requested mutual aid for trucks, equipment and personnel from numerous departments in Walworth, Jefferson and Rock counties. With temperatures hovering around 8 degrees and wind chills below zero, salt trucks were also requested to the area to combat icy roads. (Heather Ruenz photo)
