Girls drop game to Whitewater

East Troy’s girls basketball team closed its regular season last week with a 61-32 RVC loss at Whitewater.

The Whippets finished the regular season at a perfect 22-0. Whitewater currently is the state’s top-ranked Division 3 squad.

Whitewater jumped out to a 29-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back. The Whippets held a 40-12 halftime advantage.

Katrina Santos led the Trojans with 12 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Maddie Rosin with five points and three steals. Kayla Casper added four points and three rebounds, while Kaitlyn O’Connell chipped in with four points.

East Troy, which finished conference play at 4-12, took a 6-16 overall record into a Division 3 regional opener Tuesday night at Lake Mills. Results were unavailable by press time.

The winner Tuesday night advances to a regional semifinal at Whitewater Friday night. The regional final is set for Saturday at a site yet to be determined.
