Big Foot students receive Scholastic art awards

Nine Big Foot High School students artworks have received awards from the Wisconsin 2015 Scholastic Art Awards.

Students who received Gold Key Awards include Nicholas Klesmith, film and animation, Alison Painter, photography, Emily Splisgardt, photography, and Kasey Zweifel, drawing and illustration. Brooke Berrymanwas awarded a Silver Key Award for her painting.

The following students received Honorable Mention awards: Emily Splisgardt, Brooke Berryman, Kalen Gillingham, Julia Gilstrap, Nicholas Klesmith, Jared Schnupp and Alyssa Zilmer.

Each of these students will be honored at the Scholastic Art Awards-Wisconsin Awards Day on Feb. 14 at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Students who received a Gold or Silver Key Award will also have their works displayed in the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Schroeder Galleria from Feb. 7-March 22, 2015. Gold Key Award Winners will be considered for the National Scholastic Art Awards.

According to information from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, students from across the United States submitted 255,000 original works during the 2014 program year.
