Geneva Lake West sets candidate forum

The Geneva Lake West Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Candidate Forum for local government offices Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Abbey Springs Country Club Clubhouse, 1 Country Club Drive, Fontana.

The forum, which is free and open to the public, will once again be combined with the Chamber’s semi-annual Member Showcase.

Chamber members will exhibit their products and services from 5 to 8 p.m. in a trade show format in the Clubhouse large banquet room, while the formal Candidate Forum will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Clubhouse Grille.

“We are proud to provide this opportunity for candidates and voters to interact on the important issues that confront our local governments. It is great to see the democratic process in action,” said Candidate Forum Chairperson Derek Steadman.

Steadman, Account Executive at Stan’s Office Technologies, will also be moderating the Forum.

In addition to officials from the villages of Fontana, Williams Bay, Walworth and the townships of Linn and Walworth, candidates such as U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R- Janesville and his opponents for the First Congressional District, Rob Zerban, Democrat, and Keith Deschler, Independent; Amy Loudenbeck-R and Ryan Schroeder-D running for the State Assembly Dist. 31; Donna Pruess-R and Susan Finster-D running for Register of Deeds, were also invited to participate. No candidates have yet confirmed they would make the event.

Complimentary appetizers and a wine tasting will be available, as will a cash bar, in the Clubhouse banquet room. Door and raffle prizes will be awarded following the forum.
