ROBERT A. HERTEL SR.

Robert A. Hertel, Sr., 75, passed away on Dec. 23, 2014.

He was born on April 21, 1939 in Kenosha to William and Martha Hertel. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 1961 to Jan. 1965. With the aid of the G.I. Bill, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Carthage College in Kenosha. While at Carthage he was the Vice-President of Lambda Alpha Epsilon, a national fraternity devoted to the professionalism for active Police Officers in the area of criminal justice activities.

Bob was a Lieutenant with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. He was later selected to be the Chief of Police for the City of Reedsburg.

His wife Donna preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2008. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Wisconsin Chief of Police Association and the American Legion, Post # 0173.

He is survived by daughters Kimberly (Earl) Richtmyre of Lake Tomahawk and Susan Hertel of Kenosha and sons David Hertel and Robert (Jennifer) Hertel both of Kenosha.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 26 at the First United Methodist Church, 145 S. Prairie Street, Whitewater with Rev. Kim Brumm officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Town of Spring Prairie.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 at the church until the time of the services.
