Lady Elks start season slow

The Elkhorn Area High School girls basketball team opened its 2015-15 season with two consecutive non-conference losses.

The Elks lost their season opener 46-29 Nov. 20 at Clinton and lost their home opener 39-30 Nov. 21 against Edgerton.

Against Clinton (2-0) the Elks trailed 24-17 at halftime after the Cougars outscored the Elks 15-9 in the second quarter.

Clinton outscored Elkhorn 9-8 in the third quarter before pulling away with a 13-4 fourth quarter.

Clinton center Kalli Kuhlow led all scorers with 18 points. Abbie Kolacke led Elkhorn with 11 points.

Elkhorn trailed Edgerton (1-0) 18-14 at halftime. The Crimson Tide outscored the Elks 21-16 in the second half.

Edgerton’s Ashlyn Oren led all scorers with 11 points. Anna Farrington added 10.        Kolacke led Elkhorn with nine points and Megan Skoczylas added eight.

Elkhorn played Delavan-Darien (1-1) Tuesday in the Southern Lakes Conference season opener for both teams at Delavan-Darien.

The Elks play Westosha Central (2-0) Dec. 2 at home in a SLC contest.
