Library prepares for three-county program

The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library in Whitewater announces that trio – a tri-county program featuring libraries in Dodge, Jefferson and Washington counties – will be launched Nov. 20.

The program will allow the local library, and its patrons, access to more than 1.5 million items within the three counties. A total of 26 libraries will participate in trio, and the sheer number of libraries is expected to improve the experience for patrons immensely. For example, searching for items will be faster and downloading and placing holds from Overdrive for e-content will be one click away. Though the look of the catalog will change slightly, the method library patrons will use to access materials will not.

In preparation for the move into trio, the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library will need to limit its services Nov. 14 through Nov. 18 and be closed Nov. 19 until trio is launched Nov. 20.

“Please be patient with the library. It will be worth the slight inconvenience,” library director Stacey Lunsford said.

The trio program is made possible through the Mid-Wisconsin Federated Library System using the SirsiDynix BLUEcloud platform – aimed at moving the libraries included into the next level of technology.
