ROBERT C. CHRISTENSEN

Robert C. Christensen, 85, of Elkhorn died unexpectedly July 29, 2012 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.

He was born June 16, 1927 in Elkhorn. He was the son of the late Nels M. and Ida (Brummond) Christensen. He graduated from Elkhorn Area High School with the class of 1945. On October 23, 1949 he was united in marriage to Nannette Jane Larsen in Elkhorn.

He worked for over 45 years delivering milk working for Stearns Dairy, Urbandale, Mariondale Farms and Dean’s Foods retiring in 1989.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Elkhorn. Grandpa “Bob” was the perfect example of a family man. He never missed a sporting event, concert or school event that any of his children or grandchildren were part of. Numerous hours of his time were spent at the tennis courts, baseball fields, football fields, and basketball courts. He may have been spotted at a soccer field although he could never consider it a real sport.

Outside of his family, his loves were the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers, and tennis. He was known as “Ace” in the greater Elkhorn tennis circuit.

“Grandpa Bob” loved all children and always made our friends feel welcome in our home. He was known for his good-natured teasing and many bad jokes. We will miss his support and are eternally grateful for having such a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nannette; three children, Bobbi Christensen of Madison, Scott (Patti) Christensen of Elkhorn and Joel (Lisa) Christensen of Elkhorn; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by two brothers, Bertram and George Christensen; and two sisters, Edith Schoenbeck and Marian Ellsworth.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 104 S. Broad St., Elkhorn, with Rev. Joyce Rossen officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at church.

Memorials may be made in his name to Elkhorn Area High School All Sports Booster Club P.O. Box 472 Elkhorn, WI 53121.
