LORENA ANN (LESTER) HOLMAN

Lorena Ann (Lester) Holman, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Sept. 16,

2014. Lorena was born on Jan. 2, 1931, in Gays Mills, the daughter of Earl and Thurley Lester.

Lorena enjoyed being part of a large family and growing up on a farm in the Gays Mills area. Lorena married Glen Holman on May 30, 1952. Glen preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 2000. Together they raised seven children. Lorena enjoyed family, friends, church, bridge, movies, the Packers and traveling.

Lorena, Glen and family spent two years in Nigeria where Glen was involved in the USAID program. Lorena had a great passion for her family and church. Getting together with her family was very important to her. As a grandma, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Lorena was very active in many committee positions and aspects of the Delavan United Methodist Church. She devoted much of her time and energy to her church’s missions and the United Methodist women’s group.

Lorena is survived by her son, Roger (Joan) Holman, of Waupaca; her daughter, Cathy (Dennis) Duesterbeck, of Elkhorn; two foster sons; Todd Holman; of Plainfield, Ill., and Dennis Herbst, of Loveland, Colo.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie Welch, of Janesville, and Elaine Strait, of Readstown; two brothers, Joe (Kathie) Lester, of Lodi, Calif., and Allan (Sharon) Lester, of Houston; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen; her sons, Mark and Lee; her parents; her sister, Cherie Herbst; and her brother, Reginald Lester.

In celebration of Lorena’s life, there will be a visitation at the Delavan United Methodist Church from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, and a memorial service followed by a luncheon at the church at 11 a.m. Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Delavan United Methodist Church.

She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and church family. We are comforted knowing that she is in a better place and with Glen, two of her sons and parents.
